OHHSIT! Down and check this out ... we are very excited to introduce you to Deb Schwedhelm of Deb Schwedhelm Photography. A gifted family & portrait photographer based in Tampa Florida, Deb's work is tender and soulful, and often encourages you to explore the emotions of self-discovery and inner strength.  Deb's innate sensitivity to light and form as a photographer seems driven by her own instinct to nurture emotional exploration as a means to heal and grow. No doubt Deb's inspiring career as an Air Force nurse constantly confronted her with these very same life themes.  

Deb's portrait REACH is a favorite of mine, so bringing it to life for her as a pillow cover was such a pleasure! True to the spirit of REACH, Deb is one of those gutsy ladies who is constantly stretching and seeking out new goals ... her most recent achievement is the chance of a lifetime.  She's headed to AFRICA to donate her talent and skill to photograph an awesome event ... curious?  Check out her BLOG for details and consider making a donation to support her work with The Foundation For Tomorrow ... we did!

OHHSIT! For My Princess

More than a few tears were shed in the making of this chair, partly because I am a wild woman with a staple gun, but mostly because it reminded me of how much I love and miss my mother and my grandmother.   Both have passed on in recent years, but I am determined to keep their memories alive for my own daughter who never had the opportunity to really know either of these two wonderful women (she was just 16 months when my mother passed).  

Growing up, I loved pulling out my parent's wedding album and flipping through all the beautiful pictures of my Mom dressed like a princess. I cherish those times we spent sprawled out on the floor reading the pages of her wedding album as if it were a fairy tale.  I hope to create similar memories with my own sweet pea with the added touch of a special princess chair for her room which proudly documents three generations of brides.  The front panel of her chair features my grandmother, a strong southern woman who grew up to be a pioneer in the women's movement with a long list of firsts to her name.  On the seat, my beautiful mother walks toward the church with her bridesmaids in tow, and on the back my own portrait where my mother's flowing veil is worn with pride.

I look forward to many evenings reading fairy tales in this chair with my daughter snuggly in my lap.  And best of all, I hope to photograph my daughter with this chair living out her own fairy tale one day.   Of course, by then it will be covered in paint, dirt and finger prints ... exactly as it should be.

Making your memories a part of your everyday is a gift, not only for yourself but for those you treasure.
